ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT

Prior to the 1990’s asbestos was commonly applied to building materials and products due to its fire-resistant nature, insulation properties, and durability. Residual asbestos-containing materials have been known to be identified in buildings as recently constructed as the early 2000’s.
JD Environmental has extensive experience conducting asbestos surveys and performing abatement site reviews. Additionally, JD Environmental has a unique skill set in developing abatement specifications pertaining to asbestos abatement, supervising and management of abatement projects, asbestos sampling (air, bulk, soil, dust), as well as preparing abatement budgets and tendering abatement projects.JD Environmental has the ability to prepare Asbestos Management Programs (AMP) and conduct Awareness Training Programs to assist clients’ specific needs.
DESIGNATED SUBSTANCES
The Occupation Health and Safety Act defines 11 designated substances which are subjected to individual government regulations. It is mandatory to conduct a designated substance survey prior to the start of any renovation or construction project in order to identify if any designated substances are present and may be potentially disturbed by work of the project. The 11 designated substances include:
-
Asbestos
-
Lead
-
Silica
-
Mercury
-
Arsenic
-
Benzene
Although not considered “Designated Substances”, mould and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are subjected to similar guidelines and are often treated in a parallel fashion.
JD Environmental boasts extensive experience conducting designated substance surveys which identify the presence and extent of designated substances within the project area. Additionally, JD Environmental’s project management of designated substances have proven to be critical to the execution of numerous projects in the firm’s history.
-
Isocyanates
-
Vinyl chloride monomer
-
Ethylene oxide
-
Acrylonitrile
-
Coke Oven Emissions

MOULD MANAGEMENT

Mould is naturally occurring in our environment. The presence of mould amplification sites can arise from a plethora of sources including but not limited to: water infiltration episodes (window leaks, roof leaks, etc.), water losses (pipe leaks, hot water tank leaks, sewage back-ups, etc.), condensation, excessive relative humidity, etc.
JD Environmental has extensive experience conducting mould investigations, moisture mapping following flood response, and performing abatement site reviews. Additionally, JD Environmental has a unique skill set in developing remediation specifications pertaining to mould abatement, supervising and management of abatement projects, mould air and surface sampling, sewage bacteria sampling, as well as preparing remediation budgets and tendering abatement projects.
JD Environmental has the ability to prepare Mould Management Programs (MMP) and conduct Awareness Training Programs to assist clients’ specific needs.
